Helpmates Experience Related to the City <br />Since 1972, Helpmates has been providing temporary, full-time and other innovative <br />staffing concepts to a wide variety of private and public clients throughout Orange County <br />and Southern California. As the needs of our clients and employees have developed and <br />changed, sometimes with very little advance notice, Helpmates has proactively embraced <br />a Continuous Improvement philosophy. <br />This philosophy has allowed us to create and implement innovative solutions to staffing <br />challenges, which directly benefits our clients and employees/Specialists. A few examples <br />include: <br />• Designing a staffing model that reduced overtime, increased productivity and <br />saved our client over $2 Million annually in direct labor costs led by: <br />o Mario Soto <br />o Rosalie Villa <br />• Identified and re -engineered a manufacturing process which reduced workers' <br />comp frequency by 80%, increased employee satisfaction and reduced turnover by <br />50%, potentially saving millions of $$ in workers' comp costs, workplace related <br />lawsuits and employee downtime. <br />o Mario Soto <br />o Helpmates Risk Manager <br />• Identified and upgraded a recruiting and hiring process for a large project of <br />clerical workers, which increased productivity by 35%, while reducing FTE <br />headcount and employee turnover ... out of 26 staffing services used nationally, we <br />were ranked number one! This effort was led by: <br />o Mario Soto <br />o Rosalie Villa <br />• Embraced Federal Law and technological change and were one of the first staffing <br />services in Southern California to combine E -Verify and Social Security matches <br />to adhere to the Federal employment law, with no exceptions ... a commitment to <br />practicing our Helpmates Value of Honesty and Integrity <br />• Embraced technological change and invested early in the ability for candidates to <br />utilize online tools to apply, take assessments and use all of the skill improvement <br />training modules, at no cost to the candidate or Specialist <br />• The first staffing service in Southern California to mandate gaps of employment <br />verification as part of the hiring criteria to minimize the impact of predator <br />candidates with Helpmates and our client worksites <br />• The first staffing service in Southern California to implement candidate integrity <br />testing, in addition to the myriad of other candidate checks, as outlined on pages <br />11-12. The first staffing service in Southern California to require all full time <br />Helpmates staff to become Certified Staffing Professionals through the American <br />Staffing Association and to maintain this credentialing as a condition of <br />employment. Only 4% of the staffing companies in the industry actively promote <br />this professional certification and employee development opportunity <br />• One of only a few staffing services nationally (<100), and even fewer locally (<3) <br />that are ASA Workers' Comp Certified for best practices and annually pass a <br />rigorous worksite audit, out of 17,000 staffing services nationally <br />• Helpmates is the first to earn Safety Standard of Excellence Mark From American <br />Staffing Association and National Safety Council.
