Staff was <br />appreciative of your attentiveness to all aspects of' the negotiation process <br />and contribntion in formulating the waste hauler contracts, The Mayor and <br />City Council were very thankful for the guidance you provided as well as <br />your thoroughness to all aspects of negotiations and development of both <br />waste hauler contracts, <br />Through this rigorous process, the City was able to successfully negotiate <br />new 8-year agreements with its two current waste haulers, while obtaining <br />new terns, enhanced services, and increased City revenue. Key <br />euhancements include tire following: <br />• Collection vehicles powered by natural gas. <br />• Waste Management's residential agreement includes an increase in <br />diversion from 40% to 45% of the solid waste collected. <br />• All residents will be entitled to door•to-door collection of Sharps and <br />other household hazardous wastes at no additional charge. <br />• Valley Vista's commercial agreement requires a substantial increase in <br />diversion, from 8.5% to 250/,� of the solid waste collected, and includes <br />the processing of all mixed waste to recover reeyclables. <br />• A minimum of 751A of the City's consn-uction and demolition debris <br />will he diverted. <br />• The new agreements provide the City with enforcement mechanisms to <br />help ensure that the new requirements are met. As a result, the existing <br />City-wide diversion rate of 59% will further increase under the now <br />agreements. <br />• Residents will receive a rebate fqr revenues from recyclable material <br />sales over a minimum per ton value. <br />Our City ties had the pleasure of utilizing your 6nn's solid waste services <br />April 4, 2018 Page A-4 HF&I-I Consultants, LLC <br />
