Serve... www.bireyouth.org <br />Tools to Green the future! <br />WIA Supportive Services Policy and Procedures <br />Purpose: <br />To establish guidelines for the issuance of supportive services to youth enrolled <br />in a WIA funded program and are actively engaged in WIA Title I activities and/or <br />post -exit follow up services. <br />Reference: <br />WIA section 101(46) and Federal Register 20 CFR section 664.440. <br />Procedures: <br />ELIGIBILITY; <br />1. <br />To request and receive support services, a participant must be actively <br />enrolled in one (1) or more of the ten (10) required program elements, <br />including during follow-up services. <br />2. <br />Supportive services will be approved upon verification of enrollment and <br />participation in required program elements, when it is necessary for youth <br />to participate in required program elements, and when the youth is unable <br />to obtain supportive services though any other program or agency. <br />3. <br />Provision of support services is not an entitlement and it will be <br />determined what supportive services are reasonably required for youth <br />based on individual need, assessment results, and the Individual Service <br />Plan (ISP). <br />AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND ASSESSMENT OF NEED: <br />1. <br />All Support Services not offered through OCCC are processed on a <br />reimbursement basis. <br />2. <br />Support services are delivered contingent upon availability of funds. <br />3. <br />Initial assessment of need will be determined by the Program Specialist. <br />The need for services will be recorded on the Individual Service Plan (ISP) <br />and through on-going assessment. <br />4. <br />Program Specialist is responsible for determining If transportation is a <br />significant barrier to participation in required program elements, and <br />whether or not the youth were unable to obtain services through another <br />program or agency. <br />5. <br />Supportive services may be provided while a participant is enrolled in 1 or <br />more of the 10 elements, including when a participant has exited the <br />program and is eligible for follow up services. Supportive services must be <br />determined based upon the individual and must include a <br />review/assessment of the participant's need for supportive services to <br />meet goals and clearly documented in the case file.
