1. Community organizing/recruiting volunteers. LASOC will expand its recruiting activities and coordinate volunteer
from its partners. LASOC will work with UC Irvine (law and undergraduate programs), Western State Law School, Chapman
University (law and undergraduate programs), Santa Ana Community College, to name a few.
2. Presenting trainings. LASOC will conduct at least 12 trainings throughout the year to ensure the quality of the advice
provided by the attorneys, law students, and volunteers who will participate in the Clean Slate project.
3. Educational Seminars. LASOC staff and other will work with the community partners to provide educational seminars
to Santa Ana residents in the targeted area. The seminars will focus on understanding their rights and impact of dismissals on
their lives.
4. Conducting clinics. LASOC will conduct at least 12 clinics and coordinate efforts conducted at the partner locations.
S. Preparing expungements. LASOC anticipates that we will file 300-400 petitions for dismissal, certificates of
rehabilitation and Proposition 47 reductions. This will help 104 Santa Ana residents, mostof whom will likely need help with
dismissal assistance on multiple convictions to clean their criminal record.
'erformance Measures
Clients are entered into a custom client management database, the Matrix. The database currently tracks qualitative and
quantitative outcomes such as the level of service, the type of service, number of hours performing the service, and outcome
3f the case. Matrix works in conjunction with LASOC's toll free Hotline and has many features that are embedded in the
project and assist with determining eligibility, conflicts of interest, case acceptance and referrals. Matrix is used for opening
and closing cases. The system incorporates scripts on several substantive legal areas which enables the Hotline intake workers
to document all appropriate information related to the callers case to assist the attorney with providing advice and
determining the services that should be extended to the client. The system captures and retains all appropriate data at intake;
screens applicants for eligibility and case type; completes an immediate conflict check; makes data available in real time; has
the capacity to share client and case data among offices and staff; securely transfers data; can generate reports; has the ability
to assign funding source codes to cases and can be customized in house. These capabilities provide meaningful data for
program evaluation, including specialized reports that will be used to measure performance outcomes for this project.
4dditionally, LASOC intends to develop a customer satisfaction survey that will be used to measure performance on this
project.
NUMM11:31110
