Other custody functions adjacent to the housing units include (a) <br />medical / mental health space, (b) visiting, (c) classrooms and program space, <br />(d) quasi -outdoor recreation yards, (e) inmate / staff circulation, and (f) <br />maintenance / mechanical and other utility storage areas. <br />Level 4: The fourth floor of the jail is also primarily dedicated to tiered inmate housing <br />and dayrooms. Other custody functions adjacent to the housing units include <br />(a) medical / mental health space, (b) visiting, (c) classrooms and program <br />space, (d) quasi -outdoor recreation yards, (e) inmate / staff circulation, and (f) <br />maintenance / mechanical and other utility storage areas (See Appendix A: <br />Santa Ana City Jail Functional Use Area Square Footages and Space <br />Adjacencies Graphic Charts by Facility Level) <br />The total space associated with the detention facility's key functional use areas which support inmate <br />booking, housing, food service, and other major operational activities is highlighted in the following Table. <br />As the data shows, the jail has a combined average of 350.5 square feet per rated inmate custody bed. <br />An average of total of 312.1 square feet or 89.1% of the building's total area per inmate is indoor space <br />and 38.4 square feet (10.9%) is devoted to outdoor functions including the vehicle sallyport and quasi - <br />outdoor inmate recreation yards which are located adjacent to the third and fourth floor of the housing <br />units. <br />Santa.
