RESOLUTION NO. 2018-047 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA SETTING FORTH THE LANGUAGE OF A <br />BALLOT TITLE REGARDING WHETHER THE CITY <br />CHARTER SHOULD BE AMENDED TO MODERNIZE AND <br />REMOVE OUTDATED LANGUAGE TO REFLECT <br />CHANGES OR CONFLICTS IN THE CITY OR STATE LAW <br />CONCERNING GIFTS AND CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS <br />AND DESIGNATED CITY FUNDS; CREATE CONSISTENCY <br />IN THE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING BOARDS AND <br />COMMISSIONS; AND MOVE THE QUALIFIFCATIONS FOR <br />THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO <br />BE INCLUDED ON THE BALLOT FOR THE 2018 GENERAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2018 <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. By Resolution No. 2018-046, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />has called for a its general election to be held on November 6, 2018 and submitted to the <br />voters an amendment to sections of the Santa Ana City Charter. <br />Section 2. The California Elections Code directs that the City Council approve the <br />form of the ballot question to be submitted to the voters and the City Council of the City <br />of. Santa Ana desires, on its own motion, to submit to the voters of the City a. question <br />relating to whether the City Charter should be amended to modernize and remove <br />outdated language to reflect changes or conflicts in the City or State law concerning gifts <br />and campaign contributions and designated city funds; create consistency in the <br />municipal code regarding boards and commissions; and move the qualifications for the <br />finance director to the municipal code to be submitted to the voters at the General Election <br />to be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. <br />Section 3.
