ARTICLE XV <br />15.0 SAFETY <br />15.1 CentralSafes Committee <br />The Union may designate two (2) representatives and two (2) alternates, who may attend <br />only in either of the representatives' absences, to serve on the City's Central Safety <br />Committee. <br />15.2 Safe , 5_b oes/I3ogLs <br />A. The City agrees to pay up to three hundred dollars ($300) per fiscal year per <br />employee, for the purchase and/or repair of approved safety shoes/boots. <br />The option of purchase and/or repair shall be at die sole discretion of each <br />employee. <br />The employee may purchase their safety shoes/boots from either a City approved <br />vendor or any outside vendor of their choice. <br />B. Employees will be allowed to use this allowance to purchase insoles or other <br />shoe/boot related accessories. <br />C. Code Enforcement employees who are regularly assigned to work involving <br />confiscation or retrieval of evidence or who must regularly enter dangerous or <br />abandoned properties will be eligible for a safety shoe/boot allowance. Code <br />Enforcement employees will be allowed to use this allowance to purchase uniform <br />shirts as approved by the department manager or his/her designee. <br />D. All safety shoes/boots purchased under this program must have steel reinforced <br />toes, insteps and bear the official stamp of approval from the American National <br />Standards Institute (ANSI). <br />E. If a particular classification is designated by the City's Risk Manager as requiring <br />its incumbents to wear safety shoes/boots, then it will be mandatory for all <br />incumbents of that classification to wear the type of safety shoes/boots (boot or <br />low -quarter) deemed to be appropriate by the Department Head. <br />Some exemptions may be allowed, on a case -by -case basis, depending on the type <br />and amotmt of exposure to hazardous conditions in a particular position and subject <br />to the approval or disapproval of the City's Risk Manager. <br />F. The procedure necessary to be followed for the implementation and operation of <br />this program shall be in accordance with the existing policies and procedures as <br />previously established by the City. <br />2019-2022 MOU City of Santa Ana & SEW Full -Time Employees Unit Pa e 75 <br />
