On -Call Water Resources Engineering Services <br />RFP NO.: 19-100 <br />QT w 1 N t N G Amir Ghavibazoo, Ph.D. <br />Geotechnical Engineering <br />Professional Credentials Dr. Amir Ghavibazoo is Twining's Director of Asphalt Engineering and <br />PhD, Civil and <br />Pavement Design. He directs and works on pavement design, highway <br />Environmental <br />design, engineering specifications, and consulting services. He has <br />Engineering, North <br />extensive experience with advanced performance testing of asphalt <br />Dakota State University <br />binder including Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR), Bending Beam <br />Rheometer (BBR), and other asphalt binder quality control tests. He <br />• MS, Railways <br />works closely with cities and government agencies to develop unique and <br />Engineering, Iran <br />specialized mix designs, pavement inspections, and pavement design <br />University of Science and <br />solutions. Amir also serves on several technical committees in California <br />Technology, Tehran, Iran <br />helping to develop new specifications and update existing ones. <br />• BS, Industrial <br />Engineering, University <br />Relevant Experience <br />of Technology, Tehran, <br />Iran <br />City of Long Beach, Studebaker Road Pavement Evaluation — <br />Serving as pavement engineer, Amir performed pavement evaluation <br />on 0.5 miles of Studebaker Road. The surface condition assessment <br />was performed following the Caltrans Flexible Pavement Rehabilitation <br />Manual. Also, boring and coring were performed to investigate the <br />subsurface condition of the road. Based on collected information, <br />several rehabilitation strategies were calculated and recommended, <br />including Cold In -place Recycled Asphalt Concrete Pavement <br />(CIRACP) and Cement Stabilized Pulverized Base (CSPB). (2015) <br />• City of Huntington Beach, Arterial Rehabilitation — Twining <br />performed a pavement evaluation on approximately eight lane miles <br />of street at multiple locations to recommend repair and rehabilitation <br />strategies for the pavement at project level. Amir served as senior <br />pavement engineer, coordinating the required testing and preparing <br />the final recommendation and design. Several alternative options <br />provided to the City included mill and overlay, reconstruction, and soil <br />stabilization. (2016) <br />• City of El Monte, Ramona Boulevard Resurfacing Pavement <br />Evaluation — This project consisted of preparation of PS&E and related <br />construction. Twining performed geotechnical pavement evaluations <br />and rehabilitation recommendations, and Amir served as pavement <br />engineer. His responsibilities included reviewing existing geotechnical <br />reports, providing asphalt concrete pavement coring, identification of <br />subsurface soil conditions, and providing geotechnical engineering <br />recommendations for pavement rehabilitation.
