NA-45 Non -Homeless Special Needs Assessment - 91.205 (b,d) <br />Introduction: <br />Non -homeless special needs populations require a variety of support services in order to remain stable <br />and out of the homeless systems/cycle. Through 2-1-1 and other service providers working in Santa Ana <br />and across Orange County, the City of Santa Ana refers special needs populations to multiple to providers <br />to seek targeted assistance. Special Needs populations are served by many organizations. <br />Describe the characteristics of special needs populations in your community: <br />Disabled <br />When comparing the share of Santa Ana residents with disabilities to Orange County, La Habra has a <br />slightly higher disability rate of 8.9%to 8.3% in Orange County. In looking at disability type within the City, <br />the most prevalent disability is individuals living with ambulatory disabilities. Ambulatory disability is <br />defined bythe US Census as someone having difficulty walking or ascending/descending stairs. The second <br />most common disability is independent living difficulty.
