Flores, Dora
From:Diane Fradkin <dianefradkin@hotmail.com>
Sent:Tuesday, October 20, 2020 7:47 PM
To:Pulido, Miguel; Villegas, Juan; Bacerra, Phil; Penaloza, David; Mendoza, Nelida;
Solorio, Jose; Sarmiento, Vicente
Cc:eComment; Thai, Minh; Ridge, Kristine
Subject:Item 75 A - Proposed project at 3rd and Broadway
Honorable Mayor & Councilmembers:

After thinking about this a bit more, I wanted to express that my objection to this development is only that the
City and the Planning Department don't take a more active role in how they envision the redevelopment of
our City.

I understand that Mr. Harrah has done a lot for this City which we all appreciate. However, its apparent that
the Planning Department is just an order taker of proposed projects. I believe they would better serve the City
by having an overall vision for our City's future and "direct" the developer to provide more of what is
beneficial to the City. For example, on this project, the building proposed is just too tall given the surrounding
buildings in the area. Also, the design of the building does not fit with the historic nature and character of
DTSA. And we all know that park space is in great demand.....where can these future residents escape to the
outdoors in DTSA? Also, we need to better understand how high density will exist in the post-corona virus
future.

Again, I am all for redevelopment, but it needs to be well evaluated and fit with what the City envisions.....not
just individual approval of everything that comes before you without considering what the entire area is best
suited and planned for. We are better than that. Let's make our City the best it can be with some real vision
and planning.

Respectfully Submitted,

Diane Fradkin
714-914-8047
5
