In addition to being a traditional <br />lending library, the Central Library Is a civic <br />center providing community Information and <br />educational services such as author lectures <br />and book signings, book discussion groups, and <br />computer workshops. The Library features an <br />activechildren's room, teen center, computer <br />lab, large audio-visual collection, an International <br />materials collection, conference rooms, a <br />200-seat auditorium and a bookstore operated <br />by the Friends of the Glendale Public Library. <br />The Special Collections Room houses valuable <br />photographs and documents that chronicle <br />the history of Glendale. Additionally, there Is a <br />"Man's Inhumanity to Man" space dedicated to <br />the Armenian massacre. <br />The Central Library required comprehensive <br />assessment and upgrades to the existing <br />92,600sf footprint of the Library as well as the <br />surrounding landscaped open-air areas north <br />and east of the Library .
