RE <br />�,. <br />Course Descriptio'ris <br />BUS101: Introduction to This course is an introduction to business administration and management, marketing, <br />Business finance, human resources, and economics in the American marketplace. Aspects of <br />business, including the relationship of business to the social, economic, and political <br />worlds will be covered. The history of the American economy, and a comparison of the <br />free enterprise system to other economic systems, will be discussed. Considers scope, <br />function and organization of business, including principles and practices, with an <br />integrated global perspective. Upon successful completion of the course, students should <br />be able to: <br />• Identify various challenges in the business environment (socially, legally, <br />economically) <br />• Compare the legal forms of business ownership and organizational structures in <br />business and explain the impact of ethical practices in business <br />• Identify the various functions of management and human resources in business <br />• Discuss the state of American business and its relationship with international <br />trade <br />• Evaluate the importance of computer knowledge in business success <br />• Discuss the characteristics of the franchising industry and describe the principles <br />of short range and long range financial planning <br />• Compare the importance of purchasing and production and the impact it has on <br />the success of an organization <br />Prerequisite: None <br />40 Hours Lecture <br />4.0 Quarter Credits <br />BUS201: Business This course is designed for all business students and provides students with basic skills <br />Mathematics and understanding of mathematics including practices and the use of common formulas. <br />Also, this course will assist students in reaching a level of increased competence in <br />mathematics and expanded understanding of the applications of mathematical concepts <br />in business activities. Emphasis is placed upon learning mathematical concepts through <br />practical application to common business problems. A review of basic math functions is <br />provided with emphasis on practical mathematical problems. The course will familiarize <br />students with basic math theory emphasizing those components making up a business <br />accounting formula. Basic equations and techniques will be covered while Proficiency is <br />developed in performing business mathematical operations using computer.
