Fri <br />Course Descriptions <br />EFL 1A Beginning Introducing elementary English to the students who take the first step to learn English. This <br />step demonstrates very short conversation like introducing oneself to others, basic <br />grammar such as how to use be, simple questions and answers, Wh- questions, yes/no <br />questions, subject pronouns, basic preposition, etc. The purpose of this course is to let <br />students know that English is a very practical language so they can use it very usefully if <br />they practice hard. <br />Prerequisite: None <br />EFL 113 Beginning This course continues study based on former level, but it becomes more complex. This step <br />treats simple present tense, present continuous, adverbs and questions of frequency, <br />simple past tense, and countable and uncountable nouns. Students may feel the course <br />quickly becomes difficult because they learn grammar and expressions quite different from <br />1A, and they are just beginners, so the instructor needs to lead the students not to fear <br />about learning English. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 1A <br />EFL 2A High Beginning Instructor teaches to the students more complicated grammar and longer expressions. To <br />make long sentences, the students will learn how to use conjunctions, adjectives like <br />comparative and superlative, and longer vocabulary. At this level, students learn more <br />words and idioms through practicing conversation, and learn about basic writing structure, <br />how to compose real essay in English. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 1B <br />EFL 2B High Beginning In this level, students will learn about irregular verbs, present perfect, and present <br />continuous future. This kind of grammar is quite difficult so student should practice a lot by <br />making sentences in speech and in writing. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 2A <br />EFL 3A Intermediate As the beginning of the intermediate course, this level is related with the basic course, but <br />students will learn more complex words, expressions and grammar. With the basis of basic <br />knowledge, they will be able to speak in English using the comparison of simple past vs. <br />present perfect and future tense. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 213 <br />EFL 3B Intermediate This course continues the development of student knowledge of fundamental structures of <br />English and appropriate use of these structures in both spoken and written communication. <br />Topics such as travel, childhood, customs, personality, and predicaments are presented in <br />unique ways using interesting real -life information. Speaking ability is developed through <br />oral exercises, individual reports, class discussions, and debates. Reading and writing are <br />developed through both in -class and independent reading projects using the Library, as <br />well as compositions and various written assignments. Students will learn typical questions <br />and responses; two-part verbs; time contrasts; simple past, present perfect, present <br />perfect continuous, and future tenses; modes; active and passive voices; habitual actions; <br />comparisons with adjectives; sequence adverbs; infinitives, gerunds, and imperatives; <br />conditional sentences with if clauses; and reported speech. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 3A <br />Last Revislon Date on December 12, 2020 <br />
