Drug -Free School Policy <br />The Drug -Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989, Public Law 101-226 requires that, as <br />a condition of receiving funds or any form of financial assistance under any federal program, an <br />institution of higher education must certify that it has adopted and implemented a program to prevent <br />unlawful possession, use or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees. The <br />following information outlines Pacific College's regulations to help insure that the school is drug -free. <br />All students at the college are required to comply with the following standards of conduct related to <br />alcohol and controlled substances: <br />• Students may not possess, use, or distribute illegal drugs on any school property or as part of any <br />school activity. The use of illegal drugs or the abuse of legal drugs on school premises is expressly <br />forbidden. <br />• Students may not be on school property in a drunken, inebriated condition or under the influence <br />of any substance. Students are encouraged to assist other students in seeking treatment if a drug <br />or alcohol related problem is apparent. Students are required to inform the school within five <br />days if they are convicted of any drug offense. <br />Drug Education <br />The college, in an attempt to assist its students and their families and staff, maintains a list of hospital and <br />community agencies available to assist employees and students seeking alcohol and drug counseling and <br />treatment. <br />Sanctions <br />A student who violates any provision of this policy shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary action, up <br />to and including dismissal from Pacific College. Students may reapply for admission through review, at a <br />later date. <br />A student accused of possession, sale, manufacture, use or distribution of a controlled substance may be <br />dismissed from the student's program of study. If convicted, the student's relationship with the college <br />will be terminated. In addition, any student or employee who violates the standards of conduct as set <br />forth in this policy may be subject to prosecution. <br />Equal Opportunity <br />Pacific College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, <br />age, non -disqualifying disability, sex, marital status, or veteran status in the recruitment and admission of <br />students, in programs and activities, and in the recruitment and employment of faculty and staff. The building was retrofitted in 1996 to fully meet all requirements of section <br />504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Doorways, hallways, and restroom facilities have been fully modified. <br />Additional handicapped parking facilities were added. Walkways and ramps for wheelchair access are <br />provided. No other special facilities or services are provided.
