Course <br />Learning Outcome <br />Mapped <br />.O <br />Apply diagnostic reasoning in assessing and <br />PL0 1, 2, 3 <br />evaluating clientsWith selected disease states: <br />Analyze physiologic responses to illnesses and <br />1`1,0 1, 2; 3 <br />treatment modalities. <br />NUR 518 <br />Discuss the principles of pharmacology including <br />PLO 1 <br />Advanced <br />Pharmacology <br />pharmacokinetics and pharmaco dynamics for <br />selected drug therapies including schedule I-V <br />medications. <br />Describe concepts of absorption, metabolism, <br />PLO 1 <br />excretion, drug interactions and drug reactions of <br />selected drug therapies including schedule I-V <br />medications. <br />Discuss pharmacological management of common <br />PLO 1, 2,3 <br />acute and chronic illnesses in selected disease states. <br />Relate ethical and legal issues associated with any <br />PLO 1 <br />medication prescribed to patients including over-the- <br />counter, non-scheduled and scheduled medications I- <br />V. <br />Identify opioid and non-opioid medications and <br />PLO 1 <br />Schedule I-V drugs and their uses in Advanced <br />Practice Nursing. <br />Demonstrate proper prescribing protocols for <br />PLO 1, 2, 3 <br />furnishing medications to patients to include non- <br />scheduled and schedule I-V medications. <br />Discover alternative treatments such as herbal <br />PLO 1, 2 <br />medications, nutritional supplements and vitamins <br />and complementary use with selected drug therapies. <br />Admissions Requirements <br />In addition to fulfilling the Graduate Admissions Requirements, an applicant to the Master of Science in <br />Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner program shall: <br />1. Provide a statement of professional goals. The Statement is your opportunity to tell faculty what <br />you are planning to do with your career after you finish your master's degree. Your Goal <br />Statement should indicate your understanding of the role of the advanced practice nurse and your <br />impact on the healthcare system and patient population you serve. <br />2. Provide a resume. <br />3. Provide three letters of professional reference. References should be from faculty members, <br />professional colleagues, or work supervisors who can evaluate your potential for success in a <br />graduate program. Recommendations from family, friends, other students or co-workers are NOT <br />appropriate. <br />4. Provide proof of an active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license from the United States. <br />5.
