Fatima <br />From: ra|phsiemion@coxnet <br />Sent: Thursday, September 3O'2O21 5:34PK4 <br />To: e[omment <br />Subject: RE Proposed Rent Control. <br />UearCmuncj|rnember, <br />I am a rental -housing provider in Santa Ana and I wish to express my opposition to the proposed "City of <br />Santa Ana Community Preservation, Rent Stabilization, Tenants' Rights Act" that appears on the (>otmber5th <br />city council agenda. <br />The proposal may seek to assist renters, but the effect of such over -reaching rent control and just cause <br />eviction policies will do the exact opposite. It will negatively impact renters, rental -housing providers, and the <br />neighborhoods where they are located, in addition to harming property values, compromising public safety <br />and quality of life, and more. <br />R�s a community partner and rental -housing provider in the city, my experience and ability to provide insight <br />could help provide potential solutions to tenants in need and would be an invaluable asset to the city in its <br />Mowever, at 10 POI11T did the city reach out to SEE?� IT17711RIT or ITIA?�ETIE ATTARE that such a propos <br />was being actively developed. Instead, the city blindsided me and my fellow rental -housing providers with a <br />proposal that: i <br />Oversteps existing state laws and imposes onerous restrictions that affect my ability to provid <br />safe, quality housing to my tenants. I <br />Eliminates my ability, and the ability of other responsible landlords, to control and adjust for <br />costs that impact our rental business operations. I <br />| believe that the proposed "City of Santa Ana Cmrnrnunhx Preservation, Rent Stabilization, Tenants' Rights <br />Act" is severely flawed and punitive against rental -housing providers.
