individually. <br />• Splitting the tasks for group assignments unevenly where some students do most of the work while others do very <br />little. <br />FABRICATION AND FALSIFICATION <br />It is a breach of academic honesty to fabricate (make-up) research or results. 1 This includes: statistics, experimental <br />results ordata, research methodology, facts, quotations, references or bibliographic material and research and the ideas <br />of others. <br />It is also a violation of academic honesty to falsify information. This includes: <br />• "Massaging" or dishonest reporting of research, lab results or data <br />• Starting from expected results and working backwards <br />• Misrepresenting the research and ideas of others <br />• Falsely reporting having met the responsibilities for a course, internship or externship. <br />• Falsifying one's attendance in a course orfieldwork <br />• Falsifying letters of support or letters of reference <br />• Falsifying academic records and/or transcripts <br />• Misrepresenting the amount of work one has contributed to group assignments and activities <br />• Falsifying doctors' notes or other documentation related to petitions or missed work <br />Modifying graded, returned material then submitting it for re -grading <br />1. Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia URL: litto// vikioediaore/vnl:i/Amdemic dishonesty, retrieved November 23, 2012. <br />TESTING PROCEDURES <br />During exams, each student must follow these prescribed rules: <br />• No hats or outerwear are allowed in the testing area <br />• No talking is allowed during exams <br />• There will be several versions of each test distributed randomly for each exam session <br />• Only school calculators may be used for testing <br />• Seating will be arranged to physically separate desks as much as possible <br />Students will move to another seat if requested by the instructor or proctor <br />• No cell phones are allowed in the testing area <br />• No backpacks, bags, or purses are allowed in the testing area <br />• No soda or drink containers are allowed in the testing area <br />Students will return completed answer sheets and test questions to the instructor individually <br />COPYRIGHT POLICY <br />InterCoast prohibits the illegal copying of copyrighted texts, publication, documents, and computer software or peer to <br />peer file sharing. Instructors may only copy portions of texts for single use as handouts to illustrate lesson plans, as <br />permitted by federal copyright law. Students may not illegally copy texts or software for distribution, use, or sale. If this <br />policy is violated, the person responsible will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Copyright <br />infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to <br />the copyright owner under section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code). These rights include the <br />right to reproduce or distribute a copyrighted work. In the file -sharing context, downloading or uploading substantial <br />parts of a copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement. Penalties for copyright infringement include <br />civil and criminal penalties. In general, anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement may be ordered to pay either <br />actual damages or "statutory" damages affixed at not less than $750 and not more than $30,000 per work infringed. For <br />"willful" infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed. A court can,in its discretion, also assess <br />costs and attorneys' fees.
