VALENCIA STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE <br />HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC <br />REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2022-14 PLACING <br />SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE CONTRIBUTIVE <br />CATEGORY <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines, and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. On September 8, 2022, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly <br />noticed public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. <br />2022-14) and categorization (Historic Resources Commission <br />Categorization No. 2022-14) of the P.A. Hooven House located at 2425 N. <br />Valencia Street, Santa Ana. <br />B. The P.A. Hooven House has distinctive architectural features of the Tudor <br />Revival style and was built in 1925. <br />C. The P.A. Hooven House is eligible for the Santa Ana Register under <br />Criterion 1 as a representative example of the Minimal Traditional style in <br />Santa Ana. Additionally, the house has been categorized as “Contributive” <br />because it contributes to the overall character and history of Park <br />Santiago and is a representative example of Minimal Traditional <br />architecture. Character-defining features exhibited by this property include <br />its steeply pitched, cross-gabled roof; asymmetrical massing with a U- <br />shaped façade; bellcast front slope of the side gable; stucco -covered <br />exterior; and multi-paned, wood-framed windows, including a prominent <br />round-headed window illuminating the barrel-vaulted ceiling living room. <br />D. The legal owner of the property is Katherine Canada. <br />E. The legal description for the subject property is attached hereto as Exhibit <br />A and incorporated by this reference as though fully set forth herein. <br />F. The subject property meets the standards for placement on the City of <br />Santa Ana Register of Historic Properties pursuant to Section 30-2 of the <br />Santa Ana Municipal Code. <br />  <br />Historic Resources Commission 3 – 5 9/8/2022 <br />
