Beard House is architecturally significant as a characteristic example of the Colonial Revival variant of the <br />Minimal Traditional style, constructed just prior to World War II by the Santa Ana development team of H. C. Head and Roy <br />Russell. The house was built in 1939 and was valued at approximately $4,000, according to the original building permit. The <br />property was sold in 1940 to Arthur A. Beard who was a graduate of the University of Iowa. He was also a resident engineer <br />for the Highway Commission of Wyoming, resident engineer for the Highway Commission of California, acting Flood Control <br />Engineer, and Orange County Highway Superintendent. Arthur A. Beard resided on the property until the mid-1960s.
