REGIONAL BOARDS/AGENCIES DESCRIPTIONS <br />SANTA ANA RIVER FLOOD PROTECTION AGENCY (SARFPA) <br />The SARFPA was formed on November 25, 974 to support the Santa Ana River <br />Mainstream Project. As a joint powers agency, SARFPA's primary function is to seek <br />congressional authorization and appropriations for the Santa Ana River Mainstream <br />Project. The agency provides Orange County residents with information on the Santa <br />Ana River flood threat and supports, on their behalf, the need for flood control <br />improvements. <br />Membership: Council Member <br />Compensation: None <br />Term Limits: None <br />Meeting Location: Orange County Water District, 18700 Ward Street, Fountain Valley <br />[and recently by Zoom] <br />Meeting Date/Time: 4th Thursday of each odd month at 4:00 P.M. <br />Alternate: Yes <br />SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS (SCAG), DISTRICT 16 <br />SCAG is an association representing six (6) counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, <br />Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura) that works to develop regional plans for <br />transportation, growth management, housing development, air quality, and other issues <br />of regional significance. SCAG's 86 Regional Council Members have the key <br />responsibility for representing the Southern California region on issues such as <br />transportation investments, growth strategies, and the allocation of future housing needs. <br />Regional Council Members have an important voice in short and long-term planning and <br />greater influence in legislation and access to the knowledge and insight provided on <br />ongoing activities affecting your constituency throughout the state. <br />Membership: Council Member <br />Compensation: $120 per diem stipend for attendance at SCAG-sponsored <br />meetings or events; maximum of six (6) per diem stipends per <br />month; mileage reimbursement or public transit expenses <br />Term Limits: 2 year term, no maximum <br />Meeting Location: SCAG Main Office, 900 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1700, Los Angeles, <br />CA 90017 [and recently by Zoom] <br />Meeting Date/Time: Monthly; 1st Thursday of each month; 12:00 P.M. — 2:00 P.M. <br />Alternate: No <br />City Council <br />27-3 <br />1 of 2 <br />
