Dan Heston <br />Engineering Services During Construction <br />32 years of professional experience • Irvine, California <br />Dan has more than 20 years of inspection experience. He began his career as a field technician and quickly <br />advanced to the role of operations manager and construction inspector. Dan has worked on many types of <br />projects as a senior construction inspector, quality assurance and quality control paving inspector, and roadway <br />inspector among others. Dan has worked on freeways, airports, dams, schools, military bases, railroads, <br />housing tracts, and various private and public works projects. He managed a testing lab and oversaw daily <br />operations, including breaking concrete test cylinders, Proctor and Marshall testing, and sieve analysis. Dan has <br />dispatched field inspectors and reviewed daily field and lab testing reports. <br />EDUCATION <br />Attended California State University, Long Beach, <br />California <br />CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING <br />Nuclear Gage License #23624, CPN, San Clemente, <br />California, 1994 <br />PROJECT EXPERIENCE <br />City of Santa Ana Well 40 PFAS I On -Call Consulting <br />Services for PFAS Treatment Systems Design <br />Orange County Water District (OCWD) I Santa Ana, <br />California I Sr. Construction Inspector/Office Engineer <br />To build an addition to the existing water treatment <br />system.. this project encompassed piping for the Ion <br />Exchange Vessels, Booster Pump and Cartridge <br />Filter systems to filter and remove the PFAS from the <br />ground water. Dan inspected the construction of the <br />filter systems, mechanical and electrical systems, <br />building of the CMU walls and fencing for the project <br />yard enclosure, as well as the paving for the site. He <br />managed the monthly pay application and held bi- <br />weekly progress meetings. Dan helped make sure <br />that the construction was performed as per plan and <br />that the work was done in a safe manner. <br />Metro Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail I Los Angeles, <br />California I Sr. Structures/Civil Inspector <br />This project is an 8.5-mile extension light rail from the <br />Exposition Line to LAX. It has eight stations either at, <br />above or below ground with six bridges. Dan's duties <br />consisted of: 1) inspecting the construction of the <br />Guideway and ballast retaining walls, as well as <br />station structures to assist in ensuring that they are <br />built as per plans and specifications: 2) documenting <br />man power, equipment, materials and as built plans; <br />3) assisting in the monthly progress payments; 4) <br />assisting in track placement inspections; and 5) <br />helping to ensure work was being performed in a safe <br />manner. <br />Orangethorpe Grade Separation I Anaheim, California <br />Sr. Structures/Civil Inspector <br />This project consists of building a bridge over the <br />railway tracks and three bridges over river channels <br />with nine mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls to <br />build the grade separation. Dan's responsibilities <br />consisted of: 1) document pile driving, MSE wall <br />construction and bridge structure construction. <br />materials, equipment, man hours and activities being <br />performed on a daily basis; 2) help make sure that the <br />work is being performed to the specifications of the <br />plans and change orders; 3) oversee that the work is <br />being done in a safe manner: and 4) assist in monthly <br />progress payments. <br />1-405 & SR- 134 Freeway Sound Walls` I Metro <br />Burbank and Mission Hills, California I Construction <br />Inspector <br />Dan reviewed submittals. RFIs, and pay progress <br />reports. He also tracked labor, equipment, material, <br />and work methods. Dan oversaw the special <br />inspectors and documented their testing to verify the <br />project met contract documents and specifications. <br />The project work included building barriers and sound <br />walls along the freeway. <br />SIR-55/SIR-22 Interchange Widening* I Santa Ana, <br />California I Roadway Inspector <br />Dan led inspections for the ramp and bridge widening. <br />He verified the structural excavation and backfills. <br />k-rail placement and constructions signs, and traffic <br />control and striping met plan specifications. He <br />inspected roadway sections, drainage systems, <br />utilities, AC, and concrete placements.
