EFL4A High This course provides continuous study from the intermediate level, with more complicated <br />Intermediate expressions. Students will learn about passive, past continuous, and some adverbs variously <br />used in sentences. The focus on this level is to fortify learning structures in practical English. <br />This level is middle of all complete courses, so it is important to study remembering the basic <br />structure. To do so, students can progress their English ability. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 3B <br />EFL4BHigh This course builds on the foundations established in EFL 3AB for accurate and fluent <br />Intermediate communication, extending grammatical, lexical, and functional skills. Students will explore <br />various topics, such as relationships, the media, self-improvement, business and advertising, <br />and controversial issues. Speaking ability is developed through oral exercises, individual <br />reports, class discussions and debates. Reading and writing are developed through both in - <br />class and independent reading projects using the Library, as well as compositions and various <br />written assignments. Students will learn relative pronouns; clauses with it and adverbial <br />clauses with when; gerund phrases; comparisons with adjectives, verbs, nouns, and past <br />participles; requests with modals; past continuous tense; noun phrases; expectations; <br />prepositions of cause; infinitive clauses and phrases; would rather and would prefer, <br />have/get something done; time clauses; the passive to describe process; giving opinions with <br />passive; and complex noun phrases. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 4A <br />EFL5AAdvanced Upon completion of this course, students will be better prepared in the four areas of <br />competence: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will also become more <br />familiar with idiomatic English. The bulk of the outside reading as well as the subjects of class <br />discussion is student-determined/instructor-approved. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 4B <br />EFL 5B Advanced A comprehensive and challenging class, EFL 5B aims to consolidate and expand the skills of <br />listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing in English. The course alms to <br />promote cross-cultural understanding through the use of texts and multimedia from the <br />Library. In addition to a review and refinement of grammar and vocabulary in a culturally rich <br />context, students also experiment with their written and spoken expression through <br />different formats. <br />Prerequisite: EFL 5A <br />EFL 6A High Advanced In addition to giving students an opportunity to discuss (at an advanced level) important <br />social and cultural issues, this class also focuses on improving students' ability to draw <br />inferences from advanced English reading and listening passages.
