2. Project Understanding and Scope of Services Project Understanding MIG understands and appreciates the value that parks and the city-wide public landscape contribute to the identity and quality of life of the Santa Ana community. We are excited about the opportunity to help shape your community parks and landscapes as we transition to more water -conserving measures, resource -conscious maintenance, and greater concern for ongoing costs. As indicated in the RFP, we understand the potential range of landscape architectural projects you envision. We have designed and developed a broad spectrum of parks and recreation facilities, streetscapes, medians, trails, dog parks, and public rights -of -way improvements. The MIG Team takes pride in finding successful, realistic solutions for our clients, involving ongoing park and streetscape maintenance, horticultural development, soil and water management, and irrigation issues. We knowledge and expertise with Santa Ana. Landscape architectural services will require thorough knowledge of current mandates that will affect design. Accessibility requirements will rely on thoughtful circulation and full universal access to public facilities throughout your park system and street sidewalks. We understand the water conservation requirements enacted by AB325, B1881 and Santa Ana's Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance that now govern landscape irrigation use. These water conservation concerns and mandated irrigation restrictions have prompted: limitations on turf use, requirements for smart weather -based irrigation controllers, and more efficient sprinklers and drip systems. Implementation of on -site green infrastructure to capture and store storm water runoff for percolation and groundwater recharge is becoming the norm. Resource conservation in terms of energy efficiency, waste recycling, and long-term maintenance demands are key design criteria, which we will consider in our design process. MIG will design your proposed park and landscape improvements with Santa Ana's high -quality standards and goals for safety, connectivity, opportunities for intergenerational activities, healthy exercise, and positive community interaction. We will work closely with City maintenance staff to garner their knowledge and recommendations to efficiently manage facilities and ongoing costs. We are particularly familiar with the special requirements of municipal projects. Our team understands the importance of complete and thorough bid documents to ensure quality construction from the "low responsible bid" contractors. Our design and construction documents will reflect this attention to detail and the quality of materials and equipment selected. We will request from City staff any standard equipment preferences that we should consider. MIG understands the relationship between City departments and the approval process. Our project team understands the City's submittal process, multi -agency review schedules, and desire to address plan check comments in a timely manner. We realize the value of proactively moving the project forward to ensure reviewers' continuity and to maintain project momentum. The MIG Team is very familiar with construction administration procedures and the importance of construction support services. We are well trained in construction administration services and tasks, and coordination with consultants, City staff, and contractors. An important aspect of our role will be to ensure that project implementation proceeds according to the design intent of the construction documents.
