In addition to having a solid understanding of parks and recreation projects, we have experience and expertise in innovative sustainable environmental design, low impact development, water wise landscaping + irrigation, current trends, and maintenance needs. Many of the architectural and landscape architectural roots in the Studio were founded upon working with local city governments through incremental improvement projects to revitalize existing communities and open spaces, each with unique identities and context. Our past parks and streetscape projects have led to the transformation of the public realm in multiple cities such as Third Street in Long Beach, Sherman Way in Reseda, Paramount Boulevard in Paramount, and Sepulveda Boulevard in Westchester. Our planning and visioning efforts have paved the way for revitalization in downtown Lomita, Glendale, Torrance, and Long Beach. As champions of human -centered design, we make sure that our solutions respect and enhance the communities we work with. We understand that small interventions can provide large impacts to existing public spaces and can address many needs simultaneously such as accessibility, sustainability, safety, aesthetics, as well as address the ever -evolving needs for end -users. Studio One Eleven's project team has experience working within the many diverse neighborhoods of Los Angeles and Orange Counties. We are a trusted partner for numerous public agencies in Southern California for on -call and peer review services including the cities of Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Paramount, Newport Beach, Anaheim, Downey, El Monte and the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation. Our expertise is focused on designing and implementing impactful projects at a variety of scales, addressing the complex issues affecting the daily lives of diverse city dwellers today and into the future. Through our work, we have created more vibrant and welcoming public spaces that have become beloved community destinations for people to live, work, and play. Our firm is known for its innovative, collaborative, and sustainable approach to community -oriented design. We are well versed in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) with focus on natural crime prevention strategies and sustainability in addition to Nature Based Solutions for stormwater management and striking water -wise and low maintenance planting design. Looking for potential to enhance the character and vitality of the public realm is built into our design culture. We have worked with numerous clients to develop innovative plans and visioning efforts that successfully combine design excellence with funding opportunities. For example, our work for the City of Bellflower looked beyond a specific improvement project to include visioning for a block - long streetscape enhancement proposal. A series of sketches were reviewed with the City Manager and presented to the Public Works Director. As a result of our efforts, the City was able to secure a $1 million Caltrans grant to fund public realm enhancements. Additionally, our recent design leadership on the Rancho Los Cerritos Stormwater Reclamation Plan and the Oak View Neighborhood Beautification Plan received a combined $9 million in grants.
