Distance education as defined in §94834 of the Ed. Code does not require the physical presence of students and <br />faculty at the same location but provides for interaction between students and faculty by such means as <br />telecommunication, correspondence, electronic and computer augmented educational services, postal service, and <br />facsimile transmission. <br />• Amfasoft ensures that the educational program offered through distance education is appropriate for delivery <br />through distance, Education methods. <br />• Assess each student, before admission, to determine whether each student has the skills and competencies to <br />succeed in a distance education environment. <br />• Ensure that the materials and programs are current, well organized, designed by faculty competent in distance <br />education techniques, and delivered using readily available, reliable technology. <br />• Provide for meaningful interaction with faculty who are qualified to teach using distance education methods. <br />• Maintain clear standards for satisfactory academic progress. <br />• Complete timely student evaluations of learning outcomes by duly qualified faculty, which are appropriate for use <br />with the distance education methods used and evaluated by duly qualified faculty. <br />• Employ a sufficient number of faculty to assure that the institution's response to, or evaluation of, each student <br />lesson is returned to the student within 10 days after the lesson is received by the institution; and, the institution's <br />response to, or evaluation of, each student project or dissertation is returned to the student within the time disclosed <br />in the catalog; <br />Specific Provisions for Instruction Not in Real -Time <br />If you enroll in a distance education program where the instruction is not offered in real-time, the first lesson <br />and any materials shall be transmitted to you within seven days after the institution accepts you for admission. <br />You have the right to cancel the agreement and receive a full refund pursuant to 5 CCR section 71750 before <br />the first lesson and materials are received. <br />Cancellation is effective on the date written notice of cancellation is sent. The institution shall make a refund <br />pursuant to 5 CCR section 71750. If the institution sent the fast lesson and materials before an effective <br />cancellation notice was received, the institution shall make a refund within 45 days after the student's return of <br />the materials. An institution shall transmit all the lessons and other materials to the student if the student: <br />(A) has fully paid for the educational program; and <br />(B) after having received the first lesson and initial materials, requests in writing that all the material be <br />sent. <br />If an institution transmits the balance of the material as the student requests, the institution shall remain <br />obligated to provide the other educational services it agreed to provide, such as responses to student <br />inquiries, student and faculty interaction, and evaluation and comment on lessons submitted by the student, <br />but shall not be obligated to pay any refund after all of the lessons and material are transmitted. <br />Computer Requirements and Recommendations <br />The student must have access to a PC or Mac -based computer to participate in the courses. Students are expected to <br />have access to the technical requirements as Amfasoft is not obligated to and does not supply the needed <br />technologies including software and hardware. Students who do not have personal access to a computer are <br />encouraged to inquire as to the availability at their local public library. <br />For the student to get the most out of our online courses, we recommend that the student have access to the <br />following computer setup. <br />Minimum suggested Windows browser software: <br />Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or later <br />Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or later <br />Minimum suggested Mae OS browser software: <br />Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or later <br />36 <br />
