CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />RFP NO.: 22-151 <br />THORNTON PARK LAKE CIRCULATION STUDY & RENOVATIONS <br />Task S: Evaluation and Recommendations Report <br />Based on accumulated research and field review, conduct and prepare written evaluation of existing lake which <br />identifies and analyzes problems and deficiencies related to the other health, lake ecology and water quality. <br />Report shall include an evaluation of the lake geometry and natural lake characteristics that influence the <br />operation of the system including: <br />• Depth from temperature and sediment accumulation <br />• Surface area and perimeter geometry <br />• Circulation and edge erosion <br />• Dominant wind direction <br />• Dredging <br />• Filtration system options, including pumps, skimmers, inlet locations, aeration <br />The anticipated Water Quality Control System should include but is not limited to the following elements: <br />• Aeration System <br />• Horizontal Circulation System <br />• Aerobic Biofiltration System <br />• Anoxic Biofiltration System <br />• Aquatic Vegetation <br />• Wetland Filtration <br />• Lake Liner System <br />• Fishery Stocking Plan <br />• Artificial Reefs <br />• Fish Spawning Areas <br />• Naturalized Lake Maintenance <br />➢ Deliverables from this task shall include a technical report which summarizes and documents <br />findings, recommendation options for types of "state of the art" circulation/aeration systems that <br />will best help with management of lake quality, and related cost estimates for each. <br />Task 6: Pre Design Engineering <br />Preliminary design phase shall include meeting with City Staff to discuss evaluations report and draw <br />conclusions for construction/renovation scope of work. <br />Task 7: Design Development (60% Plans) <br />Design development phase will involve development plans based upon Task 3-6 information and analysis. Plans <br />shall also include preliminary civil, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering, and site construction as <br />occurs, draft technical specifications and cost estimate. <br />System improvements shall include, but may not be limited to: <br />• Pump vaults (remove, replace, reconstruct) <br />• Pump replacement <br />• Skimmers: Replace and increase number <br />• Aeration tubing, discs/pods replacement <br />• New fountain jet and air compressor(s) installation (potentially with accent lighting) <br />• New in -lake submerged biofilter <br />• Introduction of new aquatic vegetation (wetland planters) <br />• New Biologic, wetland and /or aquatic vegetation filters <br />Page 4 of 6 <br />
