Attachment A - Joint Agreement for 800 MHz CCCS Page 83 of 83 <br />Definition <br />Lead Agency unit responsible for 24/7 monitoring of CCCS and responding to <br />System Watch any System issues. This includes notifications, troubleshooting, callouts, repair, <br />etc., resulting in System restoration. <br />TAC <br />Tactical on scene operation <br />Talk Around <br />Radio to Radio communications on one frequency, usually the same frequency <br />on which a repeater transmits. Simular to Direct or Simplex <br />Term ususally used with trunked radio systems. A talkgroup is a predefined list <br />Talkgroup <br />of radios/users assigned a unique ID which allows them to communicate with <br />each other over a trunked radio system. <br />Talkgroup Alias <br />Abbreviated naming of the talkgroup to fit within the 8 or 14 <br />character radio display <br />Talkgroup Failsoft <br />Channel <br />The system channel designated for a talkgroup when in the failsoft mode <br />Talkgroup ID <br />Numerical designation of the talkgroup in decimal and/or <br />hexadecimal <br />Talkgroup flame <br />fume of the talkgroup as it is programmed into the system <br />TIA <br />Telecommunications Industry Association <br />Trunking/Trunked <br />The automatic and dynamic sharing of a number of communications channels <br />between large numbers of radio users <br />UHF <br />Ultra High Frequency — Range of 300 to 3,000 MHz for public safety LMR usually <br />refers to two bands. 380 to 460 MHz (low) and 460 to 512 MHz (high). <br />UPS <br />Uninterruptible Power Source — a battery back-up device that provides <br />emergency power to connected equipment when utility power is not available. <br />User Agency <br />An agency authorized to operate a radio on the System. <br />Very High Frequency — For public safety LMR, usually refers to VHF High Band <br />VHF <br />with a range of 136 to 164MHz. VHF Low Band has a frequency range below <br />i00MHz. <br />An area in the radio / template containing positions for 16 individual talkgroups <br />Zone <br />or conventional radio channels which is normally labeled by an acronym that <br />closely represents the owner agency <br />
