<br />reviewed the science underlying the Alameda County Avian Protection Program, and advised
<br />the County on how to reduce wildlife fatalities.
<br />Consulting Ecologist, 2004-2007, California Energy Commission (CEC). Provided consulting
<br />services as needed to the CEC on renewable energy impacts, monitoring and research, and
<br />produced several reports. Also collaborated with Lawrence -Livermore National Lab on research
<br />to understand and reduce wind turbine impacts on wildlife.
<br />Consulting Ecologist, 1999-2013, U.S. Navy. Performed endangered species surveys, hazardous
<br />waste site monitoring, and habitat restoration for the endangered San Joaquin kangaroo rat,
<br />California tiger salamander, California red -legged frog, California clapper rail, western
<br />burrowing owl, salt marsh harvest mouse, and other species at Naval Air Station Lemoore;
<br />Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, Detachment Concord; Naval Security Group Activity,
<br />Skaggs Island; National Radio Transmitter Facility, Dixon; and, Naval Outlying Landing Field
<br />Imperial Beach.

<br />Environmental Issues, Natural Resources Conservation (twice), Mammalogy, Behavioral
<br />Ecology, and Ornithology Lab.

<br />monitoring studies related to avian fatalities at wind turbines, avian electrocutions on electric
<br />distribution poles across California, and avian fatalities at transmission lines.

<br />multi -disciplinary consortium of scientists facilitating large-scale, environmental planning
<br />projects and litigation. We provide risk assessments, assessments of management practices, and

<br />Prepared position statements and led efforts directed toward conservation issues, including
<br />travel to Washington, D.C. to lobby Congress for more wildlife conservation funding.
<br />Systems Ecologist, 1995-2000, Institute for Sustainable Development. Headed ISD's program on
<br />integrated resources management. Developed indicators of ecological integrity for large areas,
<br />using remotely sensed data, local community involvement and GIS.
<br />Associate, 1997-1998, Department of Agronomy and Range Science, University of California,
<br />Davis. Worked with Shu Geng and Mingua Zhang on several studies related to wildlife
<br />interactions with agriculture and patterns of fertilizer and pesticide residues in groundwater
<br />across a large landscape.
<br />Lead Scientist, 1996-1999, National Endangered Species Network. Headed NESN's efforts to
<br />inform academic scientists and environmental activists about emerging issues regarding the
<br />Endangered Species Act and other environmental laws pertaining to special -status species. Also
<br />testified at public hearings on behalf of environmental groups and endangered species.
