An overview of the STEP <br />program along with the instructor guide and student activity book is available at Ready <br />STEP. <br />o Sponsor the creation of a Teen for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in your <br />jurisdiction. The CERT Program is a national program of volunteers trained in disaster <br />preparedness and emergency response. Volunteers come from all ages and all walks of life, <br />including teenagers. Additional information, including a step-by-step guide on how to start <br />a Teen CERT, is available at Ready Teen CERT. <br />The following tools are available to order from FEMA’s warehouse free of charge: <br />o “Prepare with Pedro” is a joint product of FEMA and the American Red Cross. The <br />“Prepare with Pedro: Disaster Preparedness Activity Book” is designed to teach young <br />children and their families about how to stay safe during disasters and emergencies. The <br />book follows Pedro around the United States and offers safety advice through crosswords, <br />coloring pages, matching games, and more. Additional information, including an ordering <br />form, is available at Ready - Prepare with Pedro. <br />o The Ready 2 Help card game is a fun way for kids to learn how to respond to emergencies <br />by working with friends and using skills that will help in a real emergency. Ready 2 Help <br />teaches five simple steps to stay safe and make a difference until help arrives: <br />• Stay Safe <br />• Stay Calm <br />• Get Help <br />• Give Info <br />• Give Care <br />Ready 2 Help is designed for children ages 8 and up. Additional information, including an <br />ordering form, is available at Ready 2 Help. <br />Planning <br />Planning spans all five mission areas of the Goal and provides a methodical way to engage the whole <br />community in the development of a strategic, operational, and/or community-based approach to <br />preparedness. EMPG Program funds may be used to develop or enhance emergency management planning <br />activities. Some examples include: <br />Emergency Operations Plan <br />• Maintaining a current EOP that is aligned with guidelines set out in Comprehensive Preparedness <br />Guide (CPG) 101: Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans <br />• Modifying existing incident management and emergency operations plans <br />• Developing/enhancing large-scale and catastrophic event incident plans <br />Communications Plans <br />• Developing and updating Statewide Communication Interoperability Plans <br />• Developing and updating Tactical Interoperability Communications Plans <br />Administrative Plans <br />• Developing/enhancing financial and administrative procedures for use before, during, and after <br />disaster events in support of a comprehensive emergency management program <br />Whole Community Engagement/Planning <br />• Developing or enhancing mutual aid agreements/compacts, including required membership in <br />EMAC
