Araiza, Fatima
From:Abeer AbdelFattah <noreply@adv.actionnetwork.org>
Sent:Tuesday, December 19, 2023 11:27 AM
To:eComment
Subject:An appeal to support a Ceasefire Resolution
E-comment ,
I hope my email finds you well.
Never in my life have I witnessed such cruelty. I never thought it possible, to be honest. I
cannot shake the scenes of 30 pre-mature babies left to die and decay, children burnt with
white phosphorus, countless buried under the rubble of their own homes, maiming and
orphaning of children at a record pace. Defenseless civilians are being sniped by Israeli
soldiers on the street. Refugees bulldozed, crushed, and buried alive! Mass starvation, lack of
water, and any basics of medical care were used as weapons against a helpless,
defenseless, besieged population (illegally for 17 years!). They have nowhere to go. Even
women seeking refuge in churches were attacked yesterday. That is not normal, this is not an
acceptable collateral damage, and this is not how wars are. I refuse to believe that we live in
a world where this is acceptable.
In the past 70 days, Israel's occupation forces have killed more than 20,000 innocent
Palestinian civilians, nearly 70% of whom are women and children. The city is razed, and 1.9
million displaced, which has perpetuated a humanitarian crisis of catastrophic proportions (as
reported by the UN, WHO, and Amnesty). Journalists (50+), doctors (200+), UN workers
(100+) even a poet are targeted and killed. Blatant declarations of collective punishment,
dehumanization, and genocidal intent are repeatedly stated by the Israeli government.
Human rights groups all over the world have described these bombing campaigns as
collective punishment and war crimes, and yet they are continuously endorsed and funded by
our government. Not to mention the unwarranted violence in the occupied West Bank.
The IDF couldn’t be further from achieving their goal. Such violence against civilians was
never successful, it will only infuse the cycle of war and distraction. Israeli hostages are
abandoned, and their life is threatened by the assault.
1
