Flores, Dora
From: Lena AbdelFattah <
Sent: Tuesday, March 5, 2024 6:38 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Support Item 18: Ceasefire Resulution
Hello my name is Lena, and I urge the council to support Item 18, the Ceasefire Resolution.
It's been 5 months. Israel has been persistent in their indiscriminate and sometimes targeted bombing of civilians, the
daily loss of life is consistent and staggering. It's been 5 months of starvation and collective punishment as a weapon of
war against international law. A complete dismissal of human life, human rights, the laws of warfare, and international
community. Even after the ICJ rules of plausible genocide. We hit the 40,000 civilian death mark, 10 recorded deaths due
to malnutrition and starvation, 0 hospitals standing. Everyday we see a war crime more chilling than the day before,
each is on its own is enough to shock us to the core, and compel us to speak up and reject such cruelty. Especially when
our tax money is funding it, and our government is enabling it.
I urge you please not to make us complicit in this Genocide. Let's at least clearly reject the senseless loss of life and
unimaginable suffering. Please call for a ceasefire, preservation of the lives and release of all hostages, and to allow
uninterrupted urgently needed aid into Gaza.
I urge you to allow our community members who have suffered immense loss to grieve, heal and feel that their pain is
acknowledged, and their lives and the lives of their loved ones equally matter.
Thank you,
Lena
20
