Flores, Dora
From: Anthony Delgado <
Sent: Tuesday, March 19, 2024 11:34 AM
To: eComment
Subject: Comment on Agenda Item #24
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Hello,
I am an Orange County resident and I urge you to vote against item 924, a proposed ordinance that will restrict
our right to protest in residential areas. The ordinance comes on the heels of a series of protests in front of
Congressman Lou Correa's house due to his continued silence as more and more elected officials and people
across the country call for a Ceasefire in Gaza. Such protests have been peaceful and are meant to be disruptive.
Since Mayor Amezcua's tenure at the city council, there has been a clear pattern by members of the council to
curtail views they don't like including: limiting public comments, pushing agenda items on which young people
have shown up to speak on to later into the night, and dismissing the results of the city's own budget surveys
only because resident's responses didn't align with their world view.
This proposed ordinance follows a dangerous pattern and it should be rejected by all members of the Santa Ana
City Council.
Best,
Anthony
Anthony Delgado
Phone:
