Santa Clara Avenue Dear Members of the Santa Ana City Council, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed MacDonald's establishment to be built on Santa Clara directly across from the Woodlyn North Homeowners Association (HOA). While I am a proponent of economic development within our city, it should not come at the expense of the quality of life of our neighbors. The addition of MacDonald's will undoubtedly increase traffic congestion in the area. Furthermore, having yet another fast-food establishment in the East part of Ward 3, especially one that encroaches on a residential neighborhood, will have a detrimental impact on the community. It is concerning that the Planning Department has primarily focused on how the proposed improvements would preserve the character of the existing commercial area, with little consideration given to the impact on the character of the residential neighborhood. We cannot afford to act in desperation when making decisions that will shape the future of our city. We must consider the long-term effects of such developments on the livability and well- being of our neighborhoods. I fear that if this project proceeds as planned, we will look back on these decisions with regret and ask ourselves, "What have we done to our city?" I urge the Santa Ana City Council to reject the proposed MacDonald's establishment on Santa Clara. Instead, let us work together to find solutions that promote sustainable economic growth while preserving the integrity of our residential communities. Thank you for considering my concerns.
