SECTION 4 <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> REQUIREMENTS <br /> 5.1 Environmental Requirements <br /> 5.1.1 Contractor shall ensure that all personnel whose responsibilities involve cleaning, waste <br /> disposal, or landscaping are trained in Best Management Practices, as set forth in the <br /> City's NPDES permit and Storm Water Management Plan. <br /> 5.1.2 In preparing its proposal, Contractor shall consider the following conditions pertaining to <br /> the completion of the specified maintenance tasks: <br /> a. Contractor must conduct all operations in accordance with the City's Storm Water <br /> Management Plan and State NPDES. <br /> b. Appurtenances must be cleaned by a method(s)which does not result in runoff going <br /> into any water body, gutter or storm drains. Only potable water may flow into any <br /> water body, gutter or storm drains. <br /> C. All wash water must be disposed of in a sanitary sewer. <br /> d. No litter, debris, oil, grease, green waste, or other materials and substances may be <br /> washed, swept, or blown into the street or storm drains. <br /> e. All liquids, including but not limited to, rinse water and cleaning agents, must be <br /> properly disposed of in compliance with all laws and regulations. No liquid or product <br /> of any kind may be discharged to a gutter, storm drain or paved surface where it <br /> could be carried to the storm drain system or to a water body. <br /> f. For washing operations, Contractor shall use (1) a high-pressure/low-volume <br /> sprayer using only potable water and no cleaning agents at an average use of .006 <br /> gallon of water per square feet of surface; or (2) a self-contained power scrubber, <br /> which recaptures all wastewater, cleansers, and debris. All wastewater recaptured <br /> by a self-contained power scrubber must be disposed of in a sanitary sewer <br /> approved by the City. <br /> 5.1.3 Contractor shall comply with the City's recycling efforts and program. <br /> a. Contractor is required to recycle green waste, keeping it separate from trash and <br /> other debris. <br /> 5.1.4 Contractor shall have an Integrated Pest Management policy/program in effect. <br /> 5.2 Refuse Disposal <br /> 5.2.1 Unless directed otherwise, the City will allow Contractor to dispose of green waste and <br /> trash in bins provided by the City. The City will determine the amount of green waste and <br /> trash allowed to be dumped in these bins based on historical amounts. Any additional <br /> disposal fees must be paid by Contractor.
