Present, Trasteee Alder-~, MoPhe~fX~e~lea~, Oxubb, By and the Olerk. uYou are her. shy notified, that there will be a special meeting of the Board of T~usteee of the City of santa Aha, to be held in City Hall, on August 11,1914 at 4 p.m. for the purpose of rejecting all bids received for fire apPara~ue, and for the purpose of re- advertising for bids for fire apparatus and for the purpose of considering the Pacific Electric ~ailwa7 franchise on P~urth St." the Board was called to order b7 President Purmaant to the foregoing call, In Re Bide Fire Abparatus In Re P.g.R¥. Franchise ~ank ly. The coau~ittee appointed to inTeetigate and report on the bide received for fire apparatue for the Fire Department of the City of santa Aha, recommend to the Board of True- tees that all bid~ be z~Jeoted. On motion of Alderman, seconded by MoPhee and carried, it ia ordered that the report of the committee be accepted and the City Clerk is directed to return to the bidders all certified check~ received by him accompanying the bids. On motion of Grubb, seconded by MoFnee and carried, it ia ordered that the committee appointe~ to investigate fire apparatus for the Fire Department of the Oity of Santa Ana,be empowered to draft epecifioatione for fire apparatus and to direc~ ~he Cit7 Clerk to advertise same; bide to be opened Septmeber ~th,1914 at ?:~0 p.m. ~he Oity Clerk ie on motion of MoFnee, ascended by Alder- man and carri&~, directed to notify the Pacific ~leotria Rw¥.O~mpany of a propoeed covenan~ to be incorporated in the pzoposed franchise aa follows: "That the eucceeefal bi~r for this franchise shall give and file a bond, with sufficient ~ureties, to be approved by the Board of Tzueteee of the Oity of Santa Aha,Calif- ornia, in the penal ~um of Pifty Thousand ($SO,O00) conditioned that ouch bidder shall within eighteen months from the granting of this franchise, construct and commence to operate said z~ilroad on that portion of Fourth Street lying between the points where the present trac~of the Lee Angeles lnterurben Common7 are constructed,near the 9ouhtern Pacific Depot in said City of 8~nta Ana, to the Easterly city limits of the Oit¥ of Santa Aha, and that if said railroad is not constructed and in operation before the expiration of eighteen months the penal eum, therein named, shall Be taken and deemed to be liquidated damages and recoverable upon said bond and thio franchise will not take effect or be granted by Ordinance,until euoh Bond be given.
