Santa Ana City Hall. <br />September 2nd, 1930. <br /> <br />2:30 P.M. <br /> <br />The City Council met in pursuance to a special <br />call issued by Mayor Purinton for the purpose <br />of rescinding Resolution No. 2230 Removal Double <br />Tracks on North Main Street of Pacific Electric <br />Railway Company and adopting a new Resolution <br />with reference thereto; also auditing demands <br />upon the ~reasury of the City of Santa Ana and <br />matters with reference to sidewalks proposed by <br />the Board of Education, and rot those purposes only. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Purinton. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees W.J. Kelly, J.L. McBride, <br /> Stanley E. Goode, F.L. Purinton. <br /> <br />Absent: Trustees B.O. Sutton. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Rescinding <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Goode, seconded by McBride and <br />tied, it was resolved that Resolution No. 2230 relative <br /> <br />Reso. No. 2230. <br /> <br />to the Removal of Double Track on North Main Street of <br /> <br />the Pacific Electric Railway Company passed and adopted <br /> <br />by the City Council on the 25th day of AUgUSt, 1930, be <br /> <br />rescinded and declare null and void. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />A resolution was introduced as follows: <br /> <br />Reso. No. 2231 <br /> <br />Discontinuation of <br /> <br />Freight & Passenger Service <br /> <br />Pacific Electric Railway Co. <br /> <br /> "Whereas, by Decision No. 22610 of the Railroad Commis- <br /> sion of the State of Califorfila, the Pacific Electric <br /> Railway ComPany was granted permission to discontinue its <br /> passenger service between the Cities of Santa Aha and <br /> Orange, in Orange County, and have substituted therefor <br /> an augmented motor coach service to be provided by Motor <br /> Transit Company; and <br /> Whereas, a condition precedent to such abandonment of <br /> rail service was that written consent thereto of the <br /> Cities of Santa Aha and Orange be secured and filed with <br /> the Commission, and a further condition was that no phys~ <br /> cal facilities of the railway were to be abandoned, <br /> Now, Therefore, the City of Santa Ana hereby acquiescel <br /> in said order of the Commission and consents to such <br /> abandonment of service subject to the following <br /> That the Pacific Electric Railway Company abandon all <br />rail service, both freight and passenger, between the <br />cities of Santa Aha and Orange, reserving only the right <br />to use the tracks between said cities for the purpose of <br />moving its freight motors, used in service north from <br />Orange, when necessary for inspection or repair purposeS, <br />and also for the purpose of maintaining said tracks, for <br />emergency purposes and for excursion purposes. <br /> That when the City of Santa Aha reconstructs its paving <br />on Main Street in such manner as will require the Rail- <br />way, under its franchise, to similarly repave ~ts tracks <br />in said street, that the existing double track curves at <br />Fourth and Main Streets be replaced by single track <br />curves, and that existing double tracks on Main Street <br />between Fourth Street and Sixth Street, and south of the <br />Southern Pacific crossing on North Main Street be replace. <br />with single track. <br /> That when such reconstruction work is needed to be <br />the City of Santa Aha will Join the Railway in a request <br />for a modification of above order No. 22610 which, as' <br />noted, specifically provides that no abandonment of its <br />phFsical facilities shall be permitted the Railway." <br /> <br />The resolution was ordered filed, read, considered, desig- <br />nated Hesolution No. 2231 and passed by the following vote: <br /> ? <br /> Ayes, Truate®a: W.J. Kelly, ~,L. McBride, Stanley E. <br /> Goode, F.L. Purinton. <br /> Noes, Trustees:None. <br /> Absent, Trustees: B.O. Sutton. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Construction of <br /> <br />Sidewalks--Schools. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Kelly an~ car- <br />ried, the City Engineer was instructed to have sidewalks <br />installed according to the request of the Santa Aha City <br />Schools as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
