Council Chambers <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Hall. <br /> <br />November 21st, 1938. <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Rowland. <br /> <br />Present: T~ustees Joseph P. Smith, W. H. Penn, <br /> Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br />Absent: Trustees Plummet W. Bruns. <br /> <br />The Clerk commenced the reading of Minutes and each <br />member of the City Council having received a copy of <br />the Minutes, further reading of the Minutes of November <br />7th, 1938, was dispensed with and the Minutes approved <br />on motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Smith and carried. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />Bartelson Pontiac Co. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />L. E. H. Spicer and R. I. Matthews appeared before the <br />Council protesting against the establishment of a Used Car <br />Market in the 2400 block North Main Street by Bartelson <br />Pontiac Company. On motion of T~ustee Penn, seconded by <br />Layton and carried, the application of Bartelson Pontiac Com- <br />pany for Used Car Market, was referred back to the Planning <br />Commission for further recommendation. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Smith and carried, <br />the application of L. L. Hood for special use to erect a <br />service station at 1425 N. Main Street, legal description <br />being Lot 2, Block E, Goodwin's Addition, was referred to the <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the application of Jessie C. Kempton for permission to con- <br />duct a stenographic club at 626 N. Ross Street, was referred <br />to the Planning Commission for recommendation. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the communication of J'.C. Lamb, County Tax Collector, calling. <br />attention to the tax assessment on property acquired by the <br />City for the extension of South Broadway from Borchard Street <br />to Edinger Street, was referred to the City Attorney to pre- <br />pare a Resolution petitioning the Board af Supervisors of <br />Orange County for cancellation of all taxes against the prope <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Tz~stee Smith, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the applications of Electrical Contractors to hang electrical <br />signs, were granted subject to the approval of the Electrical <br />Inspector and to be hung under his supervision as follows: <br /> <br /> Fifth Avenue Beauty Salon 116 W. 5th Street <br /> Powell Neon Sign Co. 20? N. Main Street <br /> Mary Jane Wood--Wedding Chapel-1211 N.
