Hall, on May 4th and each Saturday evening there- <br /> after, was referred to the Department of Public Safety with <br /> power to act. <br /> <br /> 0n motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Yost and carried, <br /> the communication of Earl B. Lentz, Chief of Police, request- <br /> ing the Council to consider establishing the rank of capteinc <br /> in the bureau of detectives in the Police Department, was <br /> referred to the Council as a whole and Civil Service Commis- <br /> sion for report. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Yost and carried, <br />the communication of Vernon J. Andrew requesting that a <br />street light be installed on the alley intersection at 908 <br />Brown Street, was referred to the Department of Public Ways. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Yost and carried, <br /> <br /> the application of Edward F. Norris for appointment as a <br /> police <br /> special/officer without pay, was approved and appointment <br /> <br />granted while in the employ of Gilbert S. Wagner. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and carried, <br />the request of W. 0. and Isadora Lewis to move the house <br />located at 2026 Santiago Avenue outside the city limits, was <br />grant ed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Yost and carried, <br />the application of L. L. Vestal for appointment as a special <br />police officer for the City of Santa Ana, was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Yost and carried, <br />the application of L. M. Guyon of the S.R.A. Club of Orange <br />County, for use of Birch Park on May 22nd end 29th and June <br />12 and 26th, 1940, was g~nted subject to the approval of the <br />Forestry Board. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconS, ed by Yost and carried, <br />the.
