City Council met in regular session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Rowland. <br /> <br />Present: Truste~Plummer W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, <br /> D. W. Kelsey, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br />Absent: Trustees E. D. Yost. <br /> <br />The Olerk commenced the reading of the Minutes and <br />each member of the City Council having received a <br />copy of the Minutes, further reading of the Minutes <br />of October 21st, 1940, was dispensed with and approved <br />on motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and <br />carried. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />Santa Ana Neon Corp. <br /> <br /> In Re <br />Applications <br />Taxicab Drivers. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Request of <br /> <br />Or. Peace O~'ficers Assn. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Request~f <br /> <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Invitation to <br /> <br />Santa Annual Frollc. <br /> <br />In He <br /> <br />Communication <br /> <br />County Clerk. <br /> <br />~ouncil Ohamber <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Hall. <br /> <br />November 4th, 1940. <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Brune, seconded by Smith and carried, <br /> the application of the Santa Aha Neon Corporation for permis- <br /> sion to operate searchlights for the Famous Department Store <br /> on the evening of November 9th, 1940, was referred to the <br /> Department of Public Ways with power to act. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Brune, seconded by Keleey and carried, <br /> the applications of Lawrence Earl Rheaume, Melvin Gilham and <br /> J. A. Fulghum to drive taxicabs for the Broadway Cab Company <br /> were approved and granted on recommendation of the Taxicab <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Kelsey, seconded by Smith and carried, <br /> the request of the Orange County Peace Officers Association <br /> for permission to contact citizens of Santa Ana by telephone <br /> regarding the distribution of tickets to their benefit ball <br /> to be held on December l~th, 1940, was referred to the <br /> Department of Public Safety with power to act. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Kelsey and carried, <br /> the request of the Planning Commission for an appropriation <br /> of $7.00 to cover annual dues of the association and members <br /> to the Planning Council of Orange County, was referred to <br /> Trustee~Smith to investigate and report back. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Kelsey and carried, <br />'the invitation of Kenneth Adams, Chairman Community Entries <br />Committee, to participate in the Santa Annual Frolic to be <br />held New Year's Eve, December 31et, and to enter a decorated <br />car and ride in the parade, was received and referred to the <br />Department of City Development. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Brune and carried, <br /> the communication Of the County Clerk inclosing certified <br /> copy of minute order relative to cancellation of taxes and <br /> <br /> <br />
