Council Chamber <br /> <br />Santa Aha City Hall. <br /> <br />November 18th, 1940. <br /> <br />P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order hy Mayor Rowland. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees Plummer W. Stuns, Joseph P. Smith, <br /> D. W. Xeleey, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br />Absent: Trustees E. D. Yost. <br /> <br />The Clerk commenced the reading of the Minutes and <br />each member of the Olty Council having received a <br />copy of the Minutes, further reading of the Minutes <br />of November 4th, 1940, was dispensed with and approved <br />on motion of Trustee Bruno, seconded by Smith and carried. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />Olson& Humphrey. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Health Reports. <br /> <br />In. Gross, Fireman. <br /> <br />On mo~ion of Trustee'Smith, seconded by Keleey and carried, <br />the a~pl~catlon of Wallace Olson and Pete Humphrey to.conduct <br />public dances at the V.F.W. Hall on Saturday night beginning <br />November Z3rd, 1940, and continuing each Saturday night <br />thereafter, was referred to the Department of Public Safety <br />with power to act. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Kelsey and carried, <br />the health repot~of the Oounty of Orange covering activities <br />for the last quarter of 19~9 and the first half of 1940, <br />were received and referred to the Council aea whole. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, <br />the applications of Earl E. <br /> <br />seconded by Xelsey and carried, <br />Wiley and John P. ~bbard to <br /> <br />drive taxicabs for the Broadway Oab Company, were granted on <br />recommendation of the Taxicab Commission. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Xelsey and carried, <br />the application of Electrical Products Corporation to hang <br />an electric sign for the Shell Oil Company at 80Z N. Flower <br />Street, was granted under supervision of the Electrical <br />Inspector. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Kelsey and carried, <br /> <br />the voucher in amount of $199.3§ from the Pacific Electric <br />Railway Company covering franchise tax for year ending <br /> <br />November ?th, 1940, was received and ordered deposited. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Kelsey, seconded by Stuns and carried, <br />the recommendation of the Civil Service Commission was con- <br />curred in and Wayne L. Gross was appointed permaaently to the <br /> <br />position as hoseman of the Fire Department of <br />SantaAna and placed on the City payroll at a <br />per month, <br /> <br />the City of <br />salary of $1ZO. aO <br /> <br /> <br />
