<br /> Communication of City Engineer was read, stating that the improve-
<br /> ments on Valencia St. in Tract No. 1258 have been satisfactorily
<br /> completed, and the map may be approved. On motion of Trustee Reed,
<br /> seconded by Chandler and carried~ map of Tract No. 1258 covering
<br /> the improvement of Valencia St. running North 800 ft. from Santa
<br /> Clara Ave., was approved, and proper authorities authorized to sign
<br />
<br /> same.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the
<br /> recommendation of the Forestry Board was ~0proved and Dale Griggs,
<br /> Park Superintendent, was permitted to attend the National Shade
<br /> Tree Conference at Santa Barbara, May 19 to ~-1 inclusive, with ex-
<br />
<br /> penses paid.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, com-
<br /> munication of Mrs. William Bradney, with reference to the condition
<br /> of sidewalk in front of her place, 2116 Cypress Ave., was referred
<br /> to the City Engineer for investigation and report.

<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Mandy and carried, re-
<br />commendation of the Forestry Board was approved to accept the offer
<br />of the Division of Highways, State of California, for the sale of
<br />right of way through City owned property to connect North Nain St.
<br />with the Freeway, providing that a quitclaim deed of the right of
<br />way is secured from the County of Orange.

<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, the re-
<br />quest of W. J. Cheney, Councilman, for a leave of absence from the
<br />State, for the period starting from April 2 to the 23 inclusive, wa~
<br />~ranted.
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Nandy and ca, tied, the reque:
<br />of the Elk's Lodge for a Loading Zone in front of their club house
<br />at $10 N. Sycamore Bt. was referred to Trustee Cheney and City
<br />Engineer for investigation and report.

<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, secom~ed by Cheney and carried,
<br />notifications of the alcoholic beverage applications, made by Josep~
<br />H. Platt, 433 W. 4th St., and by Joe G. and Julia G. Islas and Henr
<br />B. Ortega, ~18 E. 4th St., were received and filed.

<br />On motion of Trustee Nandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, the
<br />applications of T. U. Pierce, Nelvin C. Nize, and George A. NcE~nzi
<br />to drive taxicabs, were granted and permits ordered issued.
