Neighbour with reference to the setting back of the curb on the North side of Washington between Main and Sycamore Streets and on motion of Trustee Ma~tin, seconde, ~y Reed ar&d .carried, complete report was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and ca~rted, Clerk was instructed to w~i~e a letter to each Department Head not prese~ at this meeting and request each Official to submit reason for non-attendance in w~iting to the City Council. Communication from City Manager of Pasadena was read with reference to their method of trading in used City Automobiles. On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, communication was filed and Chair authorized to appoint committee to investigate disposal of used automobiles on same basis as outlined in letter. Trustees Martin, Reed and Purchasing Agent were appointed as committee. On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Chair was authorized to appoint additional members on the committee to include Trustees Cheney and Chandler. Communication was read from H. B. Sheppard with reference to the rezoning and sale of City 5.51 Acre tract lying between North Main St. and Santa Ana Blvd. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded .by Cheney and ca, tied, communication was received and filed. Communication was read from J. Elmer Preston with reference to Variance ~ranted at 1427 Bush 'St. allowing professional offices an~ requesting permission to use said property for a rest home. On motion Of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and ca~rted, the City Attorney and Building Inspector were instructed to confer and render an opinion on the use of this property for a rest home priox to 7:00 P.M. of this date. On motion of Trustee Gaandler, seconded by Martin and carried, th® following Re'solution entitled: "Resolution of the Council of the City of Santa Aha, California, emploYing 0'Melveny & Myers as Bond Counsel" was read, consider'ed, designated Resolution No. 3~23 and passed by the following vote: Ayes~, Trustees W. J. Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, John W. Martin, Jr.,Virgil H. Reed, Allen A. Mandy. Noes, Trustees None Absent, Trustees None On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and ca, tied, the following Ordinance entitled: "An 0~dlnance of the City of Santa Aha, Califo~nia, ordering, calling, providing for, and giving notice of a Special Elec- tion to be held in said City on the 6th Day of June, 1950, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said city a proposition to incur bonded indebtedness by said City for a certain municipal improvement and consolidating said election with the statewide direct prtma~y election to be held on said date" was introduced, read, considered and placed on file fo~' second re ading.
