TO BE USED IN ALI. STREET WORK IN THE CITY OF <br /> <br />SANTA ANA <br /> <br />The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Aris do <br /> <br />resolve as follows: <br /> <br />SMCTION I. That the following set forth specifics- <br /> <br />lions ~ball be the standard specifications for Portland Cement <br /> <br />Concrete Pavement (One Course) to be used in all street work <br /> <br />in the City of Santa Aaa, and shall, be known ss "Standard Speci- <br /> <br />fication No. 100", ,s follows, to.wit: <br /> <br /> ca the plans or made necessary due to susponsio~ of the work (sneh as breakdowns, noon <br /> or night stops). These joints shall be ve~ical and placed either along or at right angle~ <br /> to the oenter line of the pavement, and file vertical surface shall be _~i~hed smoothly. <br /> These joints ehall be comtructed by placing a vertical tmlldtead or header well stalted <br /> or otherw~e held to line, and equal in width to the thickness of the pavement. <br /> <br />~C~IOll~ 10. C021tUOATIgD ¢0B~TRUCTIOI~ JOIl~'l'~. <br /> <br /> Corrugated construction joints shall be constructed when shown or indicated on the <br /> plans. They are intended to take the place ot the above described plain construction joints <br /> and shall conform to file above with the following additional requirements: <br /> All corrugated construction joints shall be constructed by neing a strip of standard <br /> corrugated iron or other tongue and grooved or corrugated metal strip of a design approved <br /> by the Superintendent o~ Streets. These strips shall be at least~_~t~e~W (20) gauge sheet <br /> ?tal cut with the corrugations running lengthwise with the str~p,~mnd <br /> ero~s section of the pavement. The strip of metal shall be one-half (~) inch less in width <br /> than the thickness of the pavement and not less than ten (10) feet in length. During the <br /> plac/ng of the concrete, these metal strips shall be supported by a bulkhead or header in the <br /> ~ manner as specified for expansion joint fillers. The metal strips shall be firmly held <br /> in position and when complete, the upper edge shall be not less than one-half (~) inch <br /> I~einw the finished surface of the pavement. <br /> <br />~B/21'IOB tr. CURIBG C01~¢RETE. <br /> <br /> Immediately after the concrete is finished as required by these specifications, it shall <br /> be covered with canvas or burlap, and kept moist by sprinkling. The necessary precautions <br /> ~hall be taken, while placing the covering over the concrete, to prevent marring the surface. <br /> Aa soo~ as the concrete has set sufficiently to permit the placing of earth d~e_~horeol~ <br /> -'-~ ' ' rem~a~d earth <br /> wtgwut damaging the surface, the canvas or burlap covenng shall be <br /> ~ shah be constructed. PROTECTION. <br /> <br /> All traffic shall be barred from the paved portion of the street for a per~d o{ twenty- <br /> ~le (21) days. The Contractor, however, must arrange to take care of the j~i~ti~[ tra~c <br /> so as to inconvenience the general public as little as possible. Temporary by-pasts over <br /> · he pavement at cross streets shall be constructed at each alternate cross albert unless file <br /> Superintendent of Streets shall order a less number to be constructed, i~ whioh case <br /> they simll be at such cross streets as he may direct. <br /> <br /> Such by-passes shall be constructed within ninety-six (96) but not less than forty- <br /> eight (48) hours ~{ter the concrete has been placed, and shall consist of al least eix (6) <br /> ind~es of earth placed over the pavement and the earth covered with two~/~h planks. <br /> <br /> <br />
