That the fo]low~rg set forth specifle~- tions shall be the standard specifications for Sanitary Sewers to be used in all street work in the City of Santa Aha, and ah. SECTIOH 1~. BACKFILLING. (e) TRENCHES AND TUNNELS. After a section of the sewer has been laid and the mortar in the joints has sutSciently set, the pipe shall be firmly bedded by hack~lling mn~nd the same with fine earth, free from stones or lumps, care being taken to give all '- tmnped so as neither to injure the pipe nor'to disturb the line or grade of the same. en~h shall then be deposited in the trench to a level one (1) foot above the top of ~e pipe a~d q~o~(rdghly compacted by tamping. The trench shall then be filled to within e~e (1) ~~h~ portion of the trench shall be filled and compacted in the same manner. Tunnels - ~be completely filled with earth and thoroughly compacted by tamping as soon as the habited (6~0) feet of the work, the trench shall he backfilled in layers not to exceed twelve (12) inches in thickness and each layer must be tamped solid with heavy iron a roller weighin~ not less than 2~0 pounds per inch width of tire, until the surface h~d and ~myielding. ton load will be considered as a satisfactory roller. STORATIOI~ Ol~ SURFACE OVER SEWERS. in all streets, alleys or other public places, and on sewer rights of way, the surface over and adjacent to the sides of the trench shall, after being bacldilled and prepared as herainhe~ore specified, be finished by the Contr~tor without delay, in a workmanfike mo~ner, with the same class of resurfacing as the original surfacing and in accordance with ~tm specifications for'the same unless a different class of resurfacing is noted on the~j)hsl&~ In all cases, the thickness of the resurfacing shall be two (2) inches greater than the ~ surfacing ~nd shall conform to the grade of the a~jacent surface. After which, the streets, alleys, or other public places and sewer rights 04 way slmJl be cieaned of all dirt, trash and other materials accumulated from and during the peof~tm~__ e~ the work.
