RESOLUTION N,0.' 2VV6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITT COUNCIL OF THE CITT OF SANTA ANA DETERmiNING AND DECLARING THAT WEEDS ~EqICH BEAR 'SEEDS OF A WINGT OR DOV~Y NATURE AND ATTAIN SUCH A LARGE GROWTH AS TO BECO~ A FIRE MENACE WHEN DRY, AND WHICH ARE NOXIOUS A~D DANGEROUS, ARE GROWING UPON CERTAIN STREETS, SII~EWALKS, AND PRIVATE PROPERTY IN SAID CITY OF SANTA ANA, AND ARE A PUBLIC NUISANCE: DIRECTING 'l'~w. STREET SUPERINTENDENT TO POST NOTICES TO DESTROY SAID WEEDS AS REQUIRED BY LAW: FIXING THE TI~ FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS A~ID PROTESTS, DIRECTING THE ABATEMENT THEREOF IN ACCORDANCE WITH AN ACT OF THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA ENTITLED, "AN ACT AUTHOHIEING ~JNICIPALITIES TO DECLARE NOXIOUS OR DANGEROUS WEEDS GROWING UPON THE STREETS OR SID~JAZKS OR UPON PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHIN MUNICIPALITIES TO BE A PUBLIC NUISANCE, CREATING A LIEN UPON THE PROPERTY FRONTING UPON SUCH STREETS OR SID~JALKS, OR UPON WHICH SUCH NUISANCE EXISTS FOR THE COST OF ABATING THE SA~, APPROVED MAY 26, 1915", A~NDNENTS THERETO. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l: Pursuant to the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled "An Act Authorizing ~unicipalities to Declare Noxious or Dangerous Weeds Growing upon the Streets or Sidewa~lks, or upon Private Property Within D~uuicipalities to be a Public Nuisance Creating a Lien upon the Property Fronting upon such Streets or Sidewalks or upon which such Nuisance Exists for the Oost of Abating the S~me, Approved May 26, 1915," and amen~knents thereto, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby determines and declares that weeds which bear seeds of a wingy or downy nature, or attain such a large growth as to become a fire menace when dry, and which are noxious and dangerous, are growing upon certain streets, sidewalks and private property in said City, and are hereby declared to be a public nuisance, and that the property- fronting upon such streets or sidewalks, or upon or in front of which such nuisance exists are particularly described as follows, to-wit: (SEE WEED FILE FOR DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTIES) SECTION 2: The Street Superintendent of the City of Santa Ana is hereb instEacted to prepare and post notices to destroy said weeds as required by law. Said notices shall be so posted at least five (5) days prior to the tLme for hearing objections ~nd protests by the City Council of said City, and shall be conspicuously posted in front of the property cn which, or in front of which such nuisance exists, and not more than one hundred (100) feet in distance apar~t, but not less than three (3) in all.
