The foregoing prevailing wagm schedules are based upon a working day of eight (8) hours, and in the event that laborers, workmen or mechanics are employed less than eight (8) hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that frac- tion of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight (8)° In accordance with the provisions of Section 1777.5 of the Labor Code as ~ended by Chapter 9~1, Statutes of 1939, and in accordance with the regulations of the California Apprenticeship Council, properly indentured apprentices may be employed in the prosectuion of the work° The bidder must submit with his proposal a satisfactor~y check certified by a responsible bank and payable to tl~e order of the City of Santa Aha, or a bidder's bond, for an amount not less than ten (lC) per cent of the aggregate sum of t~ bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into the proposed contract if the same is awmrded to him, and in event of failure to enter into such contract said check or bond shall become the property of the City. The amount of the bond to be given to secure a faithful perfor~ance of the contract for said work shall be fifty (50) per cent of the contract price thereof, and an additional bond in an amount equal to fifty (50) per cent of the contract price for said work shall begiven to secure the payment of claims for any materials or supplies fuxu~ished for the perfo~aance of the work contracted to be done by the Contractor, or an~v work or labor of any kind Oo~e thereon and the Contractor will also be required to furnish a certificate that he carries compensation insurance cover- ing his employees upon work to be done under contract which may be entered into between him and the said City for the constr~ction of said work. No bid will be accepted fPom a Contractor who is not licensod in accordance with the p~ovisions of tY~ Contractors License Act~ or to whom a proposal £o~m has not been issued by the City E~gineero The work is to be done in accordance with the profiles, pl'~ns and specifications of the City of Santa f~ua on file in the office of the City .Engineer, Room 201, of the City Hall of Santa Aha, Czlifornia. Copies of the plans and specifications will be furnished upon application to the City Engineer for ~ch a deposit of ten (lO) dollors will be required. The deposit will be refunded upon return of plans and specifications.
