follows: ORDINANCE NO. 930, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. $17, REGULATING TRAVEL AND TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS; ESTABLISHING A CENTRAL TRAFFIC DISTRICT, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR' THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ~LL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. The City Council of'the City of Santa Ana do oPdain as follows: Sectian 1.' That Section'9 of Ordinance No. 817 is'hereby amended to read as "Section 9. School Cross in~s. The Street Superintendent is hereby authorized to regulate and maintain with yellow paint or metal plates cross-walks, approximately fifteen (15) feet in width, at intersections in the vicinity of public schools where in the opinion of'said Street Superintendent crossing the roadway by school children is dangerous. Said Street Superintendent is further authorizedto mark and maintain with distinguishing color or metal plaSes upon the Sa~$M~, or by signs erected along the curb in a conspicuous manner, the word "School", one hundred (100) feet distant from each cross-walk established as above specified, and it shall be unlawful for the operate: of any vehicle or street car to drive into a cross-walk where there is displayed a sign with the word "School", when there is in said cross-walk upon the side of the roadway upon which said vehicle is coming any person engaged in or attempting to cross the street." Section 2. THat Ordinance No. 81V is hereby amended by the addition of a section to be knov~n as Section 25~s, which shall read as follows: "Section 2~. That the Superintendent of Streets is hereby authorized to est~ passenger loading zones in front of theaters, hotels, churches, and such other places as he shall'deem necessary, for the public convenience, upon application of the property owner or tenant of the property fronting upon the street where the application is ~, requested, which application shall be made to the Superintendent of Streets for such passenger loading zone, and the Street Superintendent is authorized to create said pass- enger loading zones when approved by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana. That said leading zones shall be designated by painting the curb white and by erecting a sign reading, "No Parking. Passenger Loading Zone Only." Such sign may be either a permanent or portable sign placed upon the curb in a conspicuous manner, and it shall be uhlawf~l rom any personlto park any vehicle in .said passenger loading zone when such sign is displayed, and said lo~ding zones shall be used only for the purpose of taking on or discharging passengers, and i~ no case shall any vehicle ~tand in said zone for a longer period~than three minutes~" Section 3. That 6he City Clerk Shall certify to'the passage of this Ordinance, and cause the, same to b_e~published three times in the Santa Ana Daily Evening Register~ a daily~newspaper-printed, published and generally circulabed in the City of Santa Ana, and the .same shall take effec~ and be in force thirty (30) days from the date of final passage. · The foregoing ordinance is signed and approved by me 'this 29th day of September, 1930. ~ F, L.
