FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION NO. <br />2023-29 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2369 <br />NORTH FLOWER STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE <br />HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC <br />REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2024-03 PLACING <br />SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby <br />finds, determines, and declares as follows: <br />A. On July 15, 2024, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2023-29) and <br />categorization (Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 2024- <br />03) of the R.S. McGuire House located at 2369 North Flower Street, Santa <br />Ana. <br />B. The R.S. McGuire House has distinctive architectural features of the Art <br />Moderne style and was built in 1938. <br />C. The R.S. McGuire House qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties under Criterion 1 as an intact example of an Art <br />Moderne style home in Santa Ana. The house displays characteristics of <br />the Art Moderne style through its use of smooth stucco wall surface, <br />asymmetrical facade, and windows located on building corners; among <br />other original features. The recommended categorization is "Key" because <br />it has a distinctive architectural style and quality reflective of the Art <br />Moderne style (Santa Ana Municipal Code, Section 30-2.2). Character - <br />defining features of the R.S. McGuire House include, but may not be limited <br />to: T-shaped plan; asymmetrical primary facades at the west and south; <br />low -pitch hipped and gabled roof; minimal roof overhang and exposed rafter <br />tails; smooth stucco siding with minimal texture throughout; stucco -clad <br />chimney with exposed brick near the top; steel -frame multi -pane <br />combination fixed -and -casement corner windows that wrap around building <br />corners; building projections that are stepped back from the front (west) <br />portion of the building; main entrance accessible by two curved concrete <br />steps with a single, solid door and Art Moderne style metal door knocker <br />that is situated below a curved roof awning; double -hung wood windows; <br />pronounced window sill trim throughout; vent at the gable end; smooth or <br />Resolution No. 2024-XX <br />Page 1 of 7 <br />
