00. wi
orange county
September 24, 2024
Dear Councilmember Hernandez,
I strongly urge you to approve the Related Bristol project on October 1. A project of this
size and magnitude will provide an unprecedented economic package that the city
desperately needs, and should be approved.
We cannot lose sight of what is at stake. Related Bristol will generate 16,800 new
jobs, $500 million in new tax revenue during its first 30 years and a $544 million
community benefits package. As part of your civic duty to vote in the best interest of
your constituents, it is imperative to prioritize the needs of the overall community and
not jeopardize the financial feasibility of the project over additional union issues,
components and other requirements.
Time is of the essence! Nearly 100 local businesses at Metro Town Square shopping
center need certainty about their future and business location. With leases for all
tenants expiring imminently and the very real prospect of a vacant retail center that is an
important generator of sales tax revenues to our City, we cannot delay this project any
further, nor jeopardize its feasibility.
Related Bristol is proposing new and improved community amenities that will enhance
and elevate the quality of life in this city, including:
• 13 acres of publicly accessible and actively programmed open space,
• $22M towards a Community Benefit Fund that could be used towards street
improvements, a community center, or anything else the City prioritizes,
• A public safety office to shorten police response times, and
• $18M in affordable housing in -lieu fees.
More than ever, people want safe, secure public places to connect and build community
with family and friends. For these reasons, 1 support the visionary Related Bristol
project, and I urge you to approve this important, new gateway to Santa Ana for the
benefit of all.
Th you
,
Suydam
President &CEO
Goodwill of Orange County
410 N. Fairview St. ocgoodwill.org
Santa Ana, CA 92703 714.547.6308
UJ2
r
L1
r
UJ
