RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XXX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL FY2022 URBAN <br />AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE SUB -RECIPIENT FUNDING <br />AND APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. The United States Department of Homeland Security has developed the <br />Urban Areas Security Initiative funding program (UASI). UASI provides <br />funds to local emergency first responders to purchase equipment, planning, <br />training, exercises and technical assistance to enhance security and <br />preparedness to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism. <br />B. In FY 2006, the United States Department of Homeland Security combined <br />the Anaheim and Santa Ana Urban Areas into a single Urban Area, and <br />provided for shared administrative responsibilities between Santa Ana and <br />Anaheim. In FY 2022, Anaheim will be the lead administrative agency for <br />UASI funding. <br />C. On October 17, 2023, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana adopted <br />Resolution No. 2023-069, to accept a funding award from the City of <br />Anaheim for the in FY 2022 Urban Area Security Initiative in the amount of <br />$1,822,800. <br />D. On November 21, 2023, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana adopted <br />Resolution No. 2023-076, to accept an additional funding award from the <br />City of Anaheim for fiscal year 2022 UASI in the amount of $105,000, <br />increasing the overall funding to the City of Santa Ana in the amount of <br />$1,927,800. <br />E. The City of Santa Ana was notified that additional funds have been awarded <br />from the City of Anaheim for fiscal year 2022 UASI in the amount of $36,500 <br />to support ongoing City projects. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and <br />directs the City Manager and the Chief of Police or their designee(s) to accept an <br />additional $36,500 in FY 2022 Urban Areas Security Initiative funding, increasing the sub - <br />recipient award from $1,927,800 to $1,964,300. <br />Resolution No. 2024-XXX <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
